About Stephanie Ameiss

I am a retired Peace Officer/Detective. I have served a multitude of assignments, including Patrol, Undercover Narcotics, Street Level Narcotics, U.S./Mexico Border Cartel Operations), multi-jurisdictional gang task force, counter-terrorism task force, and Intel Detective.

I have been an AZPOST-certified instructor, holding AZPOST certifications Law Enforcement Fitness Instructor. I also taught southwest gangs and Terrorisms classes.

After a 60-foot fall, I recovered and learned to adapt to my injuries. Throughout my career, I often dealt with significant injuries and worked through the recovery process, healing from 32 surgeries. I now teach Yoga to help others recover from injuries.

During my career, I was on the Critical Incident Stress Management team and was fortunate enough to be the benevolent fund president. I have mentored many young officers during my career and am still a mentor in retirement. I love to utilize the skills I learned from my training, experience, and determination to instruct, guide, and mentor active-duty Police Officers.

I love all water sports, hiking with my dogs, and cooking for friends and family in my free time. I live in Arizona, and you’ll find me outside most of the time.

Testimonials

From a seasoned wellness coordinator:

I have been doing the wellness stuff for a very long time and have seen a lot of resources, products offered, etc. and I am super impressed with this program and the proactive approach around officer wellness versus the reactive model that is more common.

Great "outside in" perspective to issues I have.

I began the coaching program in early 2022, and had the opportunity to be paired up with Mike Lawson. During this time, I was going through some major mental health struggles, including depression and PTSD. Mike was amazing at being able to help me get a better balance between work and life. He also helped me with some of the trauma I've dealt with in my life. I could say more about the coaching program and what it provides to those in it. I've made a lifelong friend and someone who has a great "outside in" perspective to issues I have.

Something much needed in law enforcement and I look forward to my next session.

Chris was great! He listened and had great feedback. I left the meeting feeling encouraged and immediately scheduled a follow-up session.
