The job is draining.  Burnout is real.

Your Well-being Matters.

This isn’t a vacation.

It’s a recalibration!

Could you just use a break from it all for a minute?

This year's Recalibration Retreat expands nationwide, bringing command staff, chiefs, and sheriffs from across the country to Camp Casey, Whidbey Island, Washington for three days built specifically for the people carrying the weight of leadership.

Leadership Recalibration (June 23-25, 2027)
For chiefs, sheriffs, command staff, and supervisors from departments nationwide. Limited to 20 command staff and executive leaders.

Nobody prepares you for this rank — you find out what it costs by living it. The council meeting where your best judgment gets picked apart by people who've never made a call like it. The decision fatigue that piles up until every choice, big or small, feels like the hundredth one that day. The inbox that never empties, the phone that never really stops, and the quiet truth that no matter what you decide, someone's going to be unhappy with you by five o'clock. You carry all of it — and somewhere in there, you stopped being asked how you're doing.

So when do you get a moment to just be you? Not Chief. Not Sheriff. Just you — where no one wants anything from you except to see you get the support you deserve. Three days at Camp Casey to disconnect, laugh until it hurts, and release some of the heaviness that's no longer serving you. This isn't an echo chamber of ego. This is a reprieve and recalibration for the whole self.

Who Should Attend

Why traveling TO Washington is a feature, not a bug:
"Getting on a plane is part of the reset. Leaving your jurisdiction. Crossing state lines. Arriving somewhere your radio doesn't work and nobody knows your badge number. The physical distance matters—it gives you permission to actually disconnect."

This retreat is especially beneficial for:

  • Chiefs, Sheriffs, and Command Staff carrying the weight of final decisions
  • Executive leaders navigating burnout, decision fatigue, or compassion fatigue at the top
  • Leaders facing the isolation that comes with rank — where fewer and fewer people can relate to what you're carrying
  • Command staff looking to strengthen resilience, both personally and across their leadership team
  • Executives who set the tone and culture for their entire agency, and want to lead from strength rather than depletion
  • Leaders who've spent years pouring into everyone else and are ready to receive support themselves
  • Anyone in a command role tired of carrying the mental and emotional load alone, with no one above them to hand it off to

👤 Why Individuals Should Attend

This retreat is for first responders who are feeling the weight—physically, emotionally, and mentally—and know it's time to do something about it. Whether you're a peer support leader, a seasoned officer, or someone quietly carrying too much, this experience offers practical tools and powerful connection. You'll walk away with real strategies for managing stress, improving sleep, and finding clarity—not just in your work, but in your life. It's a chance to reset, recharge, and reclaim the part of you that the job has tried to grind down.

🏛️ Why Departments Should Send Their People

Investing in your personnel’s wellness isn’t a luxury—it’s a leadership decision. Departments spend upwards of $160,000 to replace a single officer, yet too often lose experienced staff to burnout, emotional fatigue, and unaddressed trauma. This retreat helps reduce those risks by providing attendees with field-tested, peer-led strategies for sustainable resilience. Your people will return more connected, better regulated, and equipped to support their teams.

👮 ADDRESSING THE STAFFING/COVERAGE OBJECTION

"We're Too Short-Staffed to Send Anyone"

The Reality Check:

You're short-staffed NOW because you keep losing people.

Sending one officer to training for 2 days costs you 2 shifts of coverage.

Losing that officer permanently costs you:

  • 6+ months of vacancy while recruiting/hiring (IF you have qualified candidates applying)
  • $95,000+ in replacement costs
  • Hundreds of overtime hours covering their shifts long-term
  • The morale hit when your best people leave
  • The next officer who watches them quit and starts updating their resume

The math is brutal:

Cover 2 shifts now—manageable, planned inconvenience
OR
Cover 6+ months later—catastrophic, ongoing staffing crisis

Which one actually solves your staffing problem?

Retreat Goals & Objectives:

  • Personalized Guidance
  • Space for Authentic Support
  • Meaningful Peer Connections
  • Clarity & 'ah-ha' moments
  • Practical Wellbeing Tools you can immediately implement
  • Create a nationwide support network of fellow first responders who have shared this transformative experience
  • Have established relationships with coaches who can provide ongoing support

This retreat offers a safe, supportive environment where first responders can engage in genuine healing work and mental/emotional recalibration away from the demands of their daily responsibilities.

An Origin Story of the Recalibration Retreat by Tami Sharp

Have you ever had a moment that permanently changed how you see the world?

Not gradually. Not over time. But instantly. Irreversibly.

I want to share one of mine. Because it is directly connected to why the Recalibration Retreat exists today.

Picture this. A young mid-20s girl, living a simple beach-going life on the island of Maui. Fresh off a divorce, a failed business — her whole world had chewed her up and spit her out. Little did she know, she was in the very beginning of a powerful life altering journey.

That girl was me.

And on one random afternoon, driving my Jeep across the island, everything shifted...
